Most of the biggest "Playstation All-Stars" happen to be, well, third party. I feel like that's just the fundamental problem with PSABR, though. I still think that Naughty Dog developing PSABR (which was actually the original intention) may of been the only way the game could of succeeded, because unlike Superbot they actually already had clout in the industry, and ergo third parties may of been more willing to lend out their bigger characters for their game. really had to prove itself with multiple commercially/critically successful installments to order to evolve into the glorious big copyright clusterfuck it is today (and even then, it could barely get Cloud.), but obviously Nintendo had a far stronger cast of characters to work with before hand, like Mario, Link, DK, Kirby, etc that managed to get the series off the ground. Most of the biggest "Playstation All-Stars" happen to be, well, third party.īut at the same time, no big name third party like Square-Enix or Capcom were going to entrust their sacred brands with some unproven newbie studio and their new unproven IP. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a four-player brawler that pits a whole host of Sony and third-party game characters. I feel like that's just the fundamental problem with PSABR (outside of, well, the gameplay being bad), though.
